APAMSA
NMDP and APAMSA (Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association) have been partnering since 1997 to increase the representation of ethnically diverse groups, especially AANHPI (Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander), on the donor registry to offer a cure to thousands suffering from diseases treatable by blood stem cell transplant.
Since 1997, NMDP and APAMSA have hosted registry recruitment events, competitions, and education sessions resulting in more than 13,000 new potential donors on the registry.
FarmHouse Fraternity
The FarmHouse International Executive Board officially adopted NMDP as their philanthropy at FarmHouse’s Conclave in 2008.
Approximately 4,000 registry members can be directly attributed to FarmHouse’s recruitment efforts, which has resulted in 36 blood stem cell donations for patients in need.
Going back even further, Robert Graves, D.V.M. helped start a national registry of volunteers to donate bone marrow.
HBCUs
To integrate NMDP into the HBCU (historically Black colleges and universities) community and culture, the NMDP’s HBCU internship program was launched in the Fall of 2018 to spread awareness, educate, and recruit Black and African American students to join the NMDP Registry through peer-to-peer engagement. Since its’ existence, the program has added nearly 9,000 new Black and African American members to the registry.
