NMDP Get in the Game

Save lives. Transform your team.

NMDPSM Get in the Game uses the power and influence of college athletics to recruit students to join the NMDP RegistrySM as potential blood stem cell donors. By hosting registry recruitment events, your team can inspire athletes and students to sign up and make a difference in the lives of others.

Commitment

Once swabbed and added to the registry, it’s important for all potential donors to stay committed and say “yes” if called to donate.

Champions of the cause

Andy Talley Bone Marrow Foundation

In 1992, Coach Talley began his mission to educate and promote awareness about the importance of joining the registry. He held his first on-campus event at Villanova and registered over 200 students and coaching staff from the community.

In 2008, NMDP and the Andy Talley Bone Marrow Foundation officially teamed up and formed NMDP Get in the Game.

Over the years, the program has expanded beyond football and grown to include hundreds of teams across several sports, recruiting their peers to join the registry.

“My mom was a little nervous—she was like, 'why would you want to do this for a random stranger?' and I said, 'because it can save a life. If this were a member of our family, I’d want a random stranger to help us too.'”
