A drive-in recruitment event is how Mark learned about the NMDP RegistrySM. Joining the registry is a simple, yet powerful way to make a difference. So, are you ready to potentially save a life?

Mark steps up to make a difference

Mark joined the registry in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. As he completed his swab kit in the car, he couldn’t have imagined the ways this act of kindness would change his life forever.

Meet Mark

Mark was a finance major at Texas A&M University when he got the call to donate. He balanced his studies with his commitment to helping a patient. His strong connection to his faith and community played a significant role in seeing his commitment through to donate blood stem cells.

It's easy to get started: Sign up online and you'll receive a free swab kit. Just swab your cheek, send it back, and you'll be added to the registry.

Courage despite the outcome

When Mark received the call that he was a match for a patient, he didn't hesitate. In 2022, he went on to donate blood stem cells, regardless of several delays due to the pandemic and the patient’s health.

Unfortunately, the patient later passed away. Though Mark never had the chance to speak with his recipient, he’s adamant that he would donate again if called upon.

Joining the registry and staying committed has to be one of the easiest ways to serve someone. It’s free, takes 5 minutes, and you could turn out to be someone’s cure!”
