Help save my son: Join the blood stem cell registry

A father’s search for a blood stem cell donor has reached millions. Now you can act.

A viral plea. A race against time.

When Juan Uribe shared a video about his son’s urgent need for a blood stem cell donor, he wasn’t thinking about views. He was thinking about time.

His son, Max, is a dedicated student and a talented pianist with big dreams for the future. But when he was diagnosed with a serious blood disorder, his future depends on one thing: finding a donor who could save his life.

Diversifying the registry saves lives

Juan is urging people from Colombia, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Cuba, or the Dominican Republic—and across Latino communities—to consider registering as blood stem cell donors.

Patients are more likely to match with someone who shares their ancestry, yet Hispanic and mixed-race communities remain underrepresented in the registry, making the search harder for families like Juan's.

For Latino patients, the chance of finding a fully matched donor is less than 50%. For patients of mixed ancestry, the process can be even more complex.

How you can help

If you are between 18 and 35, you can register online, receive a cheek swab kit at home and return it to be added to the registry.

You could be the match for Max or for one of thousands of patients who are still searching for their match.

As a father, I want to do everything I can to give my son the best chance at finding a cure.
