Facing the unimaginable

Growing up in a family of health care professionals, she recognized the urgency when doctors acted quickly. A bone marrow biopsy soon confirmed a life-changing diagnosis: acute myeloid leukemia (AML).

Meet Nicole

Nicole finds joy and strength in the outdoors—bouldering, kayaking in summer, and skiing in winter. She often takes solo hikes, a cherished tradition she carried on even before each of her treatments. As an avid animal lover, she volunteers at local shelters and enjoys spending time with her two cats.

After her diagnosis, Nicole underwent three blood stem cell transplants, including donations from her siblings and an unrelated donor. Her resilience and unwavering spirit carried her through relapses and intense treatments, exemplifying an extraordinary fight for recovery.

Strength in every step

After overcoming complications from three transplants, Nicole is now thriving. She’s surrounded by an incredible support system of family, friends and the online cancer community. Thanks to the generous donations from her siblings and her unrelated donor, Nicole has been given a second chance at life—and the opportunity to embrace it fully. Today, she spends her time outdoors, hiking and exploring nature, and enjoys every moment with her beloved cats, savoring the simple joys that make life meaningful.
