The University of Louisville has a long, proud history and tradition. It was one of the first bone marrow transplantation programs in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, established by Dr. Roger Herzig in 1988, and is also one of the very first such programs in the surrounding states and nation. Including our pediatric BMT colleagues at the University of Louisville, our program has received an excellent accreditation record from the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), and the pediatric bone marrow transplantation program is the only FACT-accreditation pediatric program in the entire Commonwealth of Kentucky. We have designated providers team focusing on long term follow-up/survivorship care. The LTFU was designed not only to serve the needs of patients and referring physicians but also to enable collection of data that could be used for research related to outcomes after transplant. This is the aspect of the program where patients and referring physicians will see some changes being instituted to make it easier for them to supply information. The unique feature of our long term follow-up/survivorship care in our program is referral physicians and multidisciplinary consultants are play very early and active role as part of comprehensive care. Some of our specialty consultants see our patients at BMT clinic aimed to have "one-stop-shop" of care for them that are important for patients came to us from distance. We provide comprehensive post stem cell transplantation care with significant emphases on patients, multi-angle of personal and social life, not just diseases and transplantation. The services led by BMT faculty comprises nurses, NPs/PAs, social worker, psychologists, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary specialists.
