Overview
The University of Mississippi Medical Center Blood and Marrow Transplant Program offers a range of blood and marrow transplant options for both adult and pediatric patients in Mississippi and surrounding areas. The Program offers a wide range of services including autologous, related and unrelated allogeneic, haploidentical, and cord blood transplants. Patients are treated for diseases including, but not limited to, leukemia, lymphoma, neuroblastoma, multiple myeloma, sickle cell, aplastic anemia, and other bone marrow failure syndromes. The Program offers both inpatient and outpatient services and also provides extacorporeal photopheresis. The Program has been continually accredited by FACT (Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy) since 2002. Our physicians are committed to compassionate and quality care. Our patients receive care in facilities specially designed to meet standards of excellence.This center has been performing allogeneic transplants since 1992 and has been an NMDP transplant center since March 1998.

The University of Mississippi Medical Center has the following services to offer our transplant patients, family, and caregivers to assist them during the transplant process:
-Spiritual care services, Chaplains available from many faiths
-On-site schoolteachers to work with inpatient pediatric patients to assist with keeping them current with their schoolwork.
-Dedicated Bone Marrow Transplant staff which includes a Social Worker, Exercise Physiologist, Advanced Practice Providers, Certified Transplant Nurse Coordinators, and a Transplant Financial Counselor. Also, all nurses providing inpatient and outpatient care on the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit are Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certified.
-Language services which include the Remote Stratus Video System, on-site Certified Spanish, Choctaw, and Sign-language Interpreters. Also available is the Language Line that offers real-time interpretation of 170 different languages.
-Child Life Specialists to assist inpatient pediatric patients in developmentally and age appropriate motivation and medical education throughout the entire treatment and transplant process.
-Laundry and kitchenette facilities available on the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit for patients and caregivers.
-All adult University of Mississippi Medical Center Hematology Physicians are trained and involved in autologous and allogeneic transplantation.
-Dedicated outpatient clinic for post-transplant follow-up care.
-The Program also has a special arrangement with a local hotel which is approximately 7 miles from the hospital. This provides complimentary lodging for patients.Patient survival information for this center
