Overview
The Levine Cancer Institute (LCI) at Atrium Health was formed in 2010 as part of an innovative vision to deliver world-class cancer care across the Carolinas. The Adult Transplant Program was established at in 2012 utilizing a multidisciplinary approach to comprehensive transplant and cellular therapy care. The first Stem Cell Transplant was performed in March of 2014 and FACT accreditation was awarded in March of 2016. We currently perform autologous transplants, related and unrelated allogeneic transplants, and Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR-T) Cell Therapy. Our success is driven by the impact we have on community and the patients we serve through innovation and clinical research.This center has been performing allogeneic transplants since 2014 and has been an NMDP transplant center since March 2017.

Post-transplant and cellular therapy follow-up occurs at designated time points. RN Transplant Coordinators provides a bridge from inpatient into the outpatient post care follow-up clinic. Post-Transplant evaluations consist of disease-specific assessments at the following time intervals- 100 days; 6 months; 1 year and annually for a minimum of 5 years Post CAR T-Cell Therapy evaluations consist of serial KPS scores every 30 days for 3 months then at 1 month; 3 months; 6 months; 1 year and annually for a minimum of 5 years. It also includes disease-specific assessments at the following time intervals- 100 days; 6 months; 1 year and annually for a minimum of 5 years Patients are monitored by the appropriate specialist for post late effects of therapy including but not limited to endocrine, reproductive function, osteoporosis, cardiovascular risk factors, respiratory function, chronic renal impairment and secondary cancers. In addition, the following assessments are completed: Chimerism testing post- transplant at 30-day intervals, Graft Versus Host disease assessments and vaccinations are monitored in the post care follow-up clinic. Patients are assessed in the clinic at least 3 times per week following inpatient discharge for laboratory testing, transfusion/intravenous fluid support until initial neutrophil & platelet recovery. Vaccinations are reintroduced when appropriate.
