Overview
In collaboration with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, a RWJBarnabas Health facility, the Adult Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program at Rutgers Cancer Institute performs autologous, allogeneic, matched, mismatched, haploidentical and cord blood transplants and immune effector cell therapy.
The Pediatric Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program at Rutgers Cancer Institute and The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital offers children, adolescents, and young adults stem cell transplantation for cancer and blood disorders as well as gene therapy and immune effector cell therapy.
Rutgers Cancer Institute is the only program in New Jersey offering these therapies at an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.This center has been performing allogeneic transplants since 2002 and has been an NMDP transplant center since July 2005.

The Embrace Kids Foundation in affiliation with Rutgers Cancer institute and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital has a mission to lighten the burden, maintain normalcy and improve quality of life for families whose children are facing cancer, sickle cell and other serious health challenges. The Embrace Kids Foundation funds numerous programs and services including the Children’s School Program, which is a fully accredited, state-certified learning center.
The Ronald McDonald House in New Brunswick is located adjacent to the Robert Wood Johnson University campus.
We have a partnership with several local hotels for discounted rates for patients and their caregivers.

This comprehensive program follows adult post-transplant recipients over the age of 18 beginning at 1 year. Each patient within the program is given a long-term follow-up survivorship care plan which encompasses the following surveillance: immune function, skin, eyes, mouth, lungs, muscles/fascia, GI tract, liver, genitalia. Patients will be evaluated for long-term complications- especially Chronic GVHD. Patients will have access to specialty physicians who help manage post-transplant long-term issues along with our medical team. Our long-term post-transplant survivorship program encompasses cutting edge care with the support of nurse navigators, social work, financial counselors, dieticians, and psychiatry support.
