For many people, it can help to talk to someone who's been through a blood or marrow transplant (BMT) as a patient or caregiver. That's where NMDPSM Peer Connect can help.
Our trained volunteers are patients and caregivers who have been in your shoes. They're available to answer your questions, share their experiences or just offer a listening ear.

It was an instant connection. To hear someone that already had a similar experience and explained her experience as a patient, it was very helpful to know I'm going in the right direction.

Our Peer Connect volunteers are here to support you no matter where you are in the BMT process. You'll connect by phone, text or email—whatever works best for you.
Many people have questions before transplant like:
- What's the transplant experience like?
- What should I expect (as a patient or caregiver)?
- How can I help my family prepare, too?
Others have questions after transplant like:
- How did you adjust back to life after transplant?
- How soon will I be able to do the things I used to do?
- What was it like to go back to work or school?
- As a caregiver, how do I prepare for returning home with my loved one?
I understand. I was in their shoes so it's nice to be able to remind them that they're not alone and tell them, 'You can call me, email me, text me and I'll be there for you.'

We do our best to pair you with a volunteer who most closely matches your situation. If you'd like to talk to a Peer Connect volunteer, the first step is requesting a connection. You'll answer a few questions to help us find the right person for you to connect with. Then a member of our team will reach out to you within 5 business days.
