NMDP Peer Connect Program
Talk with someone who’s been there
If you or a loved one is going to have a blood stem cell transplant or already received one, you may be feeling overwhelmed, have a lot of questions or not even know where to start. Our NMDP Peer Connect program connects you with a trained volunteer who understands what you're going through, as they've been a blood stem cell transplant recipient or caregiver themselves. No matter where you are in the process, our trained volunteers are available to talk by phone or email, to help answer questions like:
- What is the blood stem cell transplant process like?
- What can I do to help my child and family prepare?
- How soon will I be able to do the things I used to do?
- As a caregiver, how do I prepare for returning home?
If you've had questions like these, you're not alone. Our volunteers are ready to listen, answer your questions and share their own blood stem cell transplant experience. We do our best to find someone who most closely matches your situation.
“It was an instant connection that put an ease to my thinking and nerves through this process. To hear someone that already had a similar experience and explained her experience as patient, it was very helpful to know I’m going in the right direction.” – Patient
“Always wonderful to hear the experience from another caregiver. Great to have somebody that is listening to you.” - Caregiver
